NewRiver works with mental health charity Chasing the Stigma

Chasing the Stigma is a national mental health charity on a mission to normalise and humanise conversations about mental health, whilst ensuring that people can access clear pathways to support, whenever and wherever they need it.

With lived experience at their core, they are driven to create a society where there is no longer a stigma associated with mental health, where people are as comfortable talking about their mental health as their physical health, and where everyone can find appropriate support before they reach a point of crisis, leading to a significant long-term reduction in self-harm and suicide.

Chasing the Stigma strive to achieve this through the provision of pioneering training services, awareness-raising campaigns and lobbying activities whilst also operating the UK’s largest and most comprehensive directory of community mental health services, the Hub of Hope.

We began our partnership with Chasing the Stigma in spring 2023 with the aim to ensure staff feel supported and that mental health is normalised in both the workplace and our wider communities. And, with several trained mental health first aiders the next step was to work with Chasing the Stigma to roll out the Ambassador of Hope training to all colleagues centrally and across the shopping centre portfolio, resulting in over 150 Ambassadors of Hope across the business.

The partnership also extended to generating awareness of the Hub of Hope services in and around the shopping centre communities through a series of targeted campaigns across social and digital sites.

We’re excited to see how the partnership evolves in its second year.
